Roads? where we are going, we don't need roads...
No sissy's Allowed.
The best fishing is usually remote, fly in fishing is popular for those that
have the time and can afford it, a fly in trip is probably your best to get on
trophy fishing, but I have different agenda. I enjoy the
challenge of tackling hard to reach inland lakes for a chance to catch lots of
fish, and get some biggies. These places are attainable if your willing to work
a little.
The risk of mechanical failure is a real possibility, long hours of rough
road, swamp, put stress on your equipment and the body alike. To those that
succeed that lake at the end of the trail is a cheerful site. I enjoy this type
of fishing trip because the rewards out weight the work, and with the right
mindset it's not really work... It's an adventure.
If there is one thing I hate, it's driving up to a lake and having a hard
time finding a place to park then setting up a tent or camper trailer inches away
from neighbors. I enjoy a
little privacy in the outdoors. Whenever possible I take fishing buddies and my
best girl and camp away from the parking lot or landing by loading all our gear
in the boats and setting up a temporary residence somewhere on the lake. A
private island with a beach suits me just fine. Many times before I'll rush home from
work on the Friday night to pack everything we need and try to be the first on
the lake so we can claim our favorite camp site for the weekend. It's like an
unwritten rule that on remote lakes with multiple camps that the first one there
gets their choice of the spots, and the next person (usually) camps somewhere
else.
fishing. I don't like to fish too hard if I can't catch a fish in an hour
or so then there is something wrong and I need to change my technique. Hence
all the work should be done getting to your spot and the fish should come in
easy
Maybe peace and quiet is not your idea of fun, in this case make all the
noise you want without disturbing any other campers.
I might have been
spoiled as a child, my dad used to take me fishing to all his best fishing
holes and his experience counts for a lot. I never had to try too hard to
catch a fish. This is now my attitude towards
A rough road or trail, can be just what a it takes to reduce the amount of
traffic on a lake. Reduced traffic leads to less fishing pressure and better
fishing. I love the sense of remoteness. I have on many occasions with my
fishing party been the only people on the lake for the whole weekend. This
is nature at it's purest. I am not some sort of naturalist or any thing like
that... I will bring as many luxuries as I can carry to make the trip easier
and more enjoyable.
I'm not ready to slow down and look to find easy way's to catch fish yet. I
know that I don't have to beat up my vehicle just to catch a fish, but to be
able to claim a beach or rock point or island and a lake as my own for a
weekend then I feel it is worth all the trouble. This type of fishing isn't
for every one but for those who choose to fish like I do it's just pure fun.
Fishing in Northern Ontario, access those hard to reach
